Twelve Moments in Anime 2009 #9 – Eureka!

Eureka 7 had likeable characters, mechas that air surf and awesome BGM. In a way it feels like a inferior version of Gurren Lagann (that’s a compliment), as they both visit very similar themes thought their runs (death, conflict both internal and external, etc).

Plus someone in the anime has the same name as I do! +1 for that.

note: I didn’t really pick out a particular “moment” since I lost all my Eureka episodes when my HDD that it was stored on failed on me. Plus, the whole marathon felt like one big moment anyways.

Hard to believe that Naruto Shippuden ep 138 would make it into a 12 moments post eh? The reason is that everything up to this point had been
spoiled for me. Past this point, I really won’t know what to expect anymore, which is always good. It’s in the #12 spot because the whole fight was not spectacular by any means.

It is also the end of Sasuke’s revenge, something that started back when Naruto just started airing. Ahhh.. remember when Naruto was still a good anime?

Twelve Moments in Anime 2008 #1 – 5 Centemeters Per Second [Day 12]

I absolutely love this film and can’t even begin t count the number of times I’ve rewatched it since my DVD arrived back in April. 5 Centemeters Per Second just crushes me, breaks my heart and at the end, I still feel satisfied, yet … not. This emotional rollercoaster probably marks the pinnacle of my anime fandom in 2008.

The reason is simple; I can relate (just like CCY). Long distance relationship? Try 12 hours time difference. That was when I first watched the movie. But alas, life goes on.

Of course this wouldn’t be the same without its absolutely amazing visuals and beautiful soundtrack (I swear, I had the OST on repeat for a month before my DVD came). My only regret? Not getting the special edition. Too bad I’m not fluent enough in moonspeak cause the set looks fabulous.

There wasn’t a particular episode that stood out for me, but as a whole the series just proved to me that my prejudice against it was unjustified. Afraid of my childhood where i was forced to play piano, a show about pianos and music just didn’t have much appeal to me. But After the second or third episode, I was hooked.

Plus Nodame’s strange noises makes for good entertainment, gyabo!

Meido Zange x Tsugumi are fine too

One thing that never ceases to amaze me are the variety of facial expressions. I absolutely love them.

Also, I’m off on a short trip starting today. The rest of the posts are already done and scheduled to go up. Have a great Christmas everyone! and Happy New Years as well~ I’ll possibly have a recap post when I’m back (if I have time)

So, as I’m sure you’ve already heard, Gai-Rei Zero episode one went from a ho-hum sci-fi zombie slaying to “WTFFFFFFFFFF YHBT!?” (or for many of us “WTFFFFFF AWESOME”) the last 5 minutes.

That and top notch motorcycle martial arts by Natsuki

ps. Seems like Zeroblade’s the only other blogger to have Gai-Rei Zero on his 12 moments. I was seriously expecting alot more.. but maybe everyone is saving it for later?

Twelve Moments in Anime 2008 #5 – Lucky Star OVA

While Zeroblade and Ghostlightning had the Lucky Star OP and just Lucky Star respectively, I chose to stick with the OVA (that and the fact that I watched LS back in 2007).

The OVA is just like one long episode of Lucky Star. It needs no further explanation.
