I figure it was time to brush off the dust on this blog with a post of some sort.

I recently watched a very enjoyable Shana-tan episode (Shakugan no Shana Second - Fumina Konoe Strikes Back!!), and to celebrate, a new wallpaper. Thanks to Jason for the inspiration (and the screencaps that I was too lazy to take).

That’s it Haess, I’m dumping the Black Lagoon girls– I want that first picture vectored and made into my new desktop in the most adorable way possible.

I was going to use something else as the background, but I couldn’t think of a better way to incorporate Shana-tan’s “Melonpan Beamu” into it, but anyways. Enjoy.

Melonpan Beamu-!!

Like how the generation before me idolizies Bruce Lee, I grew up watching every Jackie Chan movie I could find. I remember when I was young, my family would always have movie nights. The movies were usually Chinese movies rented from a nearby LaserDisk store, and I would always always enjoy the Jackie Chan movies. The way I act when it comes down to Jackie Chan is comparable to some Narutards

And Jet Li? Augh I hate him and yet, I like him. Probably 8 years ago, he really annoyed me. I don’t know why! Every… single… thing about him annoyed me, from Romeo Must Die all the way up to Unleashed. In recent years though, I’ve grown to accept him more, especially after watching Hero and Fearless.

Anyways, this joint collaboration between Chan and Li was rumored back in what? 2002? When I heard Chan and Li had a movie together I decided I was going to watch it, I didn’t even know what the movie was called or what it was about. I was going to watch it (secretly hoping Jackie Chan will kick Jet Li’s ass).

So things I noted during the movie:

  • When Jackie Chan started speaking English I had Rush Hour flashbacks (you know, Chris Tucker assumed Chan didn’t know English) and I love how everyone in ancient fairytale China can speak English.
  • Drunken boxing cause Chan was pretty cool to watch, and he fits the role so well cause he actually does look kinda drunk when he smiles.
  • Li has some craaaaazy ass laugh (for those of you who have watched, I’m talking about the part after he fights Chan).

Its a shame the story was so weak, a Chan and Li movie could of been EPIC. Totally EPIC. I only went to watch this for the Chan vs Li fight. If not for those two, I probably wouldn’t of even given this movie a second thought (maybe unless they casted Stephen Chow instead of Jet Li, just maybe). But you know what? Even though the plot had more holes than a piece of swiss cheese , it’s an enjoyable movie if you forget about the plot. Just switch off your brain and enjoy the ride.

Kinda like watching Die Hard, but instead of explosions and crap you get some kung-fu!

Taking a break from studying:

  • I took the time today to finally look up what tl;dr actually meant. Am I behind? Probably.
  • I checked-in with Author over at ani-nouto (which, although I have never mentioned before, has a “no comments” policy. Instead, Author uses blog posts to reply to subjects and expect others to do the same. It has generated some hate, but I actually think this is how the blog-o-sphere should work… IMO, comments are generally for those with one-line replies and flames, but I digress) only to find a link to some blog I never heard of named chizumatic. Under normal circumstances, I probably would not of stuck around for long over there, hell, I’m not even sure I would of been bored enough to even click on the link. However, the name chizumatic seems almost inspired by Mahoromatic and even though not every name with the “-matic” suffix is necessary related to Mahoro, the fact that it makes reference to Chizuko pretty much seals the deal (this would be confirmed later on somewhere, probably on the FAQ page). Anyways… uhh yeah. I guess its just nice to see some Mahoromatic inspired names once in a while…. its like we are NAME BROTHERS.

I wish I still had my Mahoromatic Art book and DVDs on me :( I miss that show, it’s got Meido, Mecha and Gainax! What more could I possibly ask for?

Stolen from the, now defunct, weasl.net. I wonder where he disappeared to…

As usual there was absolutely no point to this post.

I’ve joined blissmo and others over at Yukan, mainly blogging the new GONZO show, Druaga no To ~Aegis of URUK~. So if you thought this blog wasn’t being updated enough, well… tough!

Multi-author blogging works since I don’t have that much time on my hands. I can blog about Druaga there, and make random two sentence comments on other anime airng this season without having to write the post myself. So go check them out! Hopefully I’ll have time to at least finish off that spring cleaning part 2 post that’s been sitting there… lacking screenshots and I’m too damn lazy.

In other totally unrelated news, my kitchen will be getting a fix soon (the walls were so bad some of the cupboards were starting to fall off the wall? O_o Expensive though.

holy crap.

For those too lazy to click the link…

The official Japanese website for the Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 anime series has announced that human error caused Tuesday’s online leak of the fourth and final part of episode 3, which will not officially air until this Sunday in Japan.

Bandai Channel (the network service responsible for posting the entire program onto the Internet) was testing a system that prevents unauthorized video posts when it accidentally uploaded the episode’s ending onto the Internet early.

They did WHAT? Why would you test this (obviously faulty) system with an episode that hasn’t aired yet when you have episodes 1 and 2 (where were already aired btw) to play around with? I just don’t get it. However, I’m glad episode 3 will air as planned cause Code Geass R2 is pretty damn good. On a related note: I had Pizza Hut for dinner today.

I just ordered my copy of Byousoku 5 senchimetoru and I’m so super excited!

5 Centimeters per second is a movie comprised of 3 short stories. I think I’ll just borrow The Triad’s synopsis:

After having graduated from elementary school, Tohno Takaki and Shinohara Akari became separated. Time has passed, but the same cannot be said for the special feelings they’ve kept to themselves. One day during a blizzard, Takaki finally goes to see Akari…

This is an animated chain of short stories about their distance. The first episode, “The Chosen Cherry Blossoms,” is about the reunion of Takaki and Akari. The second episode, “Cosmonaut,” is taken from another person’s view who watches Takaki after the reunion. Finally, the last episode, “5 Centimeters Per Second,” is about the wandering souls of the two.

Dear idiots, umm sorry, I mean self-proclaimed “human rights activists”,

Attacking the Olympic athletes who bear the torch is a fine way of demonstrating human rights. Oh I’m sure these Olympic athletes have something to do with how China is treating Tibet. /Sarcasm. Really. I’ve always thought the Olympics were beyond the racial and political issues but I guess I’m just naive.

Nice going, fools.

It’s almost time for the Spring 2008 season! Historically, the spring season is one of my favorites, although it’s looking a bit weak this year. Nevertheless, the past month, I’ve finished off most of what I have been watching so its time for a quick review!
