Oi! Hayaku boasts an all-star blogging staff, a simple yet appealing layout and more elitism than Owen your average blog. Yet, I can’t help but feel some mildly negative vibes from O!H.

Perhaps, it was as author said -

The problem is, a lot of what I think about the endevour is negative, and I don’t like being negative. At the moment, it peeves me the most that they nixed their condescending call for authors.

First impressions are, afterall, important for a blog. Or maybe I’m just jealous of all the attention they’ve been getting … (I mean you have people practically begging to get on their blog roll, *adds O!H to my blogroll* .. sorry, where was I?)

Ok, whining aside, I’m still looking forward to what O!H will have to offer … and I do hope they will prove me wrong.  Maybe I’m already brainwashed, as I find myself occasionally hopping over to O!H occasionally to see who else will reveal themselves.

ps. As Buri-tan has pointed out, some fellow Yukan-ers have betrayed her also joined O!H. Speaking of which.. I still do blog there. Sometimes…

Ok almost never.

  1. Regarding the Author’s comment on the taking down of the call for authors, check out Baka-Raptor’s post on OH!:

Gee, taking down a pre-launch call for authors once you’ve found your authors and launched. What the hell could that be about?

    It’s not too unreasonable ;)

  2. Oh, yeah my (not so clear) point wasn’t the fact that they took it down… it was the tone of thier “call-for-authors” … :P I have no beef with them taking it down~

  3. The whole “professionalism” of OH! is what eventually turns me off, but the prospect of free shit was well worth it, probably. You might call blissmo or Impz slave-driving professionalism-ers, but OH!’s “micromanaged” scheduling ‘n stuff seem much more so to several degrees higher.

  4. the only thing I found puzzling about OH! is the lack of focus on content. If i want pretty looking things I’ll just go browse danbooru or pixiv. If I want personality I’ll just read the blogs of bloggers whose personality I like. if I want good discussion I’ll go to a forum.

I guess OH! is good for drama.

We can use more OH! DRAMA!

I should go trademark that or something.

  5. OH! DRAMA! sounds good, omo. Do it to it.

@Cokematic well, yeah, everything at OH! is condescending.

Also, OH! isn’t very professional. Riex looks like he’s having fun at a pool party, not like he’s running a business.

  6. Well, so far, very few of the writing styles on there have really caught my attention, so the aforementioned analogy to the pool party seems apt in this instance since they’re nowhere serious. I think the true test will be once articles actually come up and whether they deliver the sort of critical analysis that would be required to keep my attention. Jokes and generally silliness (the opposite of professionalism) will only go so far.

  7. Or maybe you all should ignore zaitcev.

  8. If OH! screws up, Yukan will back them up. Hopefully if Yukan screws up, OH! will back us up too. And THAT can remain neutral ‘cos they’re TOO popular.

  9. Er, I didn’t mean I wanted Yukan to screw up btw

  10. Looks like you can be successful even online. Let’s start a team blog on coitus. Or using MINIX/obscure OSes. Closely intertwined subjects.

  11. @ ritchan > although Billy Gates has me on a leash, I’ll join your obscure OS team blog! I’ll talk about nachOS (an OS used by the CS majors at my university for some OS course…)

    @ buri-tan > ….. yes… of course you didn’t mean for Yukan to screw up… yes…. *suspicious*

@ all > action speaks louder than words? I dunno, I’d be happy (and not that surprised) if OH proves me wrong.

  12. There has been a lot of fuss going around.. We shall see, shall we ^^”"

  13. Wow, now that’s an OS I haven’t heard of. Finally, something new. Tell me all about it. Which computers does it run on? It’s in MIPS assembly? C’mon man

  14. Wait, never mind, looks like it doesn’t actually run on hardware, but on top of another OS, virtualized or something. Anyway, can I assume that you’re not getting any because you refused to join my coitus blog? :D
