[01:14] <+Cokematic> how many groups need to sub Tales of the Abyss?
[01:14] <+Shisousha> About 400
[01:15] <+Cokematic> my god.. and we only have ONE sub of Shikabane Hime?
Honestly, 9 different groups/individuals have released ep 1 of Tales of the Abyss (not including all the re-encodes and junk):
- Aero / A.S.S.
- Yuurisan
- Abyssal Chronicles
- gg
- Shinsen Subs
- gaku
- Osu!
- Wieb
- Anon+bobu44
And one for Shikabane-Hime?
ps. I didn’t know Ion was a TRAP ;_;

I’d like to add that Tales of the Abyss is not even in the top searches on TT:
Top Searches
toradora (168) soul eater (79) bleach (75) macross (63) Kurozuka (61) ef (60)
Gundam 00 (50) kannagi (49) clannad (39) one piece (33)
I find it pretty pathetic that so many groups sense the need to sub that show. So many shows to choose from this season and they all go for Tales of like Pedobear goes for little kids. Heck I’m still waiting for the end of Kamen no Maid Guy and that was 2 seasons ago.
Well, tbh… Shikabane Hime AKA episode 1 was friggin’ boring. Not surprising noone wants to do it rly…
WTH .. why are there so many fansub subbing this series, damn it now i have to make a choice on which one to go for
@ Ties - I’m sure the search function is pretty useless for Tales since there’s a Tales release every day >.<
@ grunty - I might admit there’s a slight correlation between the number of groups subbing a show and how good it is… but only a very very slight correlation… and although I enjoyed Tales, it wasn’t THAT great
Ion is no trap :p
He´s a guy and always will be. What´s kinda interesting is how the people look at Anise. Or should I say that it is weird that not many of the people are giving out thoughts about Anise?
Fansub groups wants to be popular, Tales is a popular show. Therefore it´ll get a lot of different version. Which is quite boring sure but we can´t really do more about it than complain.
The game rocks by the way :)
@manga : I was 90% sure Ion is of the opposite sex. And what’s up with his lisp???? And Anise hasn’t had enough of a role yet for me to pass judgment on her
And damn you, manga.. more salt in the wound of someone who has the shitty 40gb Asian PS3 that can’t play PS2 games…
The game is old!! But still rocks. Natalie rocks as well in it!!
Tear is love!!
I don´t know how s/he is in the anime. Game he´s a guy from what I remember. But alas, long time ago that I played it.
And for the PS2, aren´t those quite cheap now? Why not get a PS2 to play these RPGs that you´re obviously missing out on?
I have a low opinion of j-RPG-to-anime adaptations. So, not only, Tale of Abyss gets subbed by everyone and their mom, but a show like Kurozuka get ROYALLY IGNORED!
[...] So this is like the 100th post on this blog, I have gotten nothing better to talk about, hahah. Maybe the two first episodes of Clannad? Corpse Princess? My building-up rage against the subbers who ALL jump on Tales of Abyss while royally ignoring Kurozu… [...]
And the irony of it all, only three/four groups are still subbing it right now. Namely gg, Abyssalchronicles, Yuurisan and Shinsen-subs (have they dropped this…?).
Out of all of them, I get gg’s first, then dl Abyssalchronicles’s later for archiver purposes and delete gg’s. gg’s fine, and soft subs are awesome yes, but copy-pasting much from the original game’s script? No no no. Abyssalchronicles so far has the most accurate translations imo, but they need to change that bloody font. I think they’re still learning, since this is their first fansub attempt, and they’re not really a fansub group i heard. Their hd encodes are lovely too, and at a reasonable size. Yuurisan’s is fine, but the font face is hard to read, plus am not really a fan of mp4. Shinsen’s fine also, but I just don’t like how they word things.
