Because every single blogger in the world has posted about this, and because you miss important stuff when you watch CLANNAD in SD :

That’s right, even Nagisa can use the Sh****gan.

Ok so this topic has been beaten to death by a rusty hammer. What I can summarize from all the blog posts and all the comments: nothing important was left out. (If you want REAL comparisons all the sites linked above have pretty screencaps showing the difference, the world doesn’t need more).

My personal thoughts? The fact that now I KNOW half the character’s faces are cut off because they can’t fit them in bothers me when I watch it in SD =( That and WS just feels… more spacious… just like how CLANNAD should be. I’ll probably continue to watch the SD first but since CLANNAD is so enjoyable, I’ll probably re-watch in HD as well.

  1. +1!!!

  2. I’ve actually been downloading the widescreen versions as well but mostly because I wanna make an air/clannad/kanon amv and its annoying that clannad is the only non widescreen one XD

  3. Apparently the Code Geass DVDs were 16:9. Still wasn’t enough to get me downloading them, though… I’ll probably download the TV-rips of the second season even if it’s in 4:3.
I really don’t care which aspect ratio I watch it in, as long as it fills my screen… and because I have a 16:10 laptop at the moment I prefer 16:9 media. Getting all panicky over missing half a character’s face is being spoilt, IMO.

  4. I like being spoiled D= And I think there would be less complaining in general if it was aired in one aspect ratio (doesnt matter if its WS or not… if the alternative did not exist then we wouldn’t have a choice). The problem we have here is that you can choose to watch it in WS, but one month later =/

I do have to agree that we are not missing anything important at all… thats the point of the photoshopped screencap above ^^ … but its nice to be spoiled sometimes.
